Free e-book on November 2014: Soso Tidak Malu Lagi

It's a very touching story from Soso, a calf, who felt ashamed for having no upper front teeth. He was jealous to his new friend, a foal named Koppi. Written by my friend Bambang Irwanto, feel free to down load here.

Free e-book on September 2014, every ending is a new beginning

I wrote this e-book based on my real life. I often get a baby snail in the lettuce I bought, and we (my youngest daughter & I) always release them in our tiny garden. I tried to put myself into the snail, and  I saw adventures!
For me, there shouldn't be 'the end' in a children's book, for every ending is a new beginning. It should ignite our imagination.
Feel free to read and/or download here.
And here is a sneak peek for you:
A real adventure!

From My Sister's Garden

TAHURA Bandung, Indonesia

TAHURA stands for Taman Hutan Rakyat (Public Forest Garden). My family and I, and my sister's family had a fun walk there two days ago. Found beautiful fallen flowers and leaves along our path, made me stop for a while to arrange this Compost Art piece:

Dabao

Sketching my snack today: dabao! It's a steamed and filled bun. In Indonesia we called it "Bapao". Only I don't like the wrinkle on the paper :(

A Little Story from "Three Little Gnomes" Book Cover

I've imagined this picture for the book cover for several times. I've even dreamed about it one night, that I and Rhonda the author, had a meeting for this book cover and she agreed for this picture.
So, I grabbed my pencil and made this sketch.
As you see on the left, this is my pencil sketch on paper, some parts were coloured by water colour. Picture taken and sent it to Rhonda by email.
I was so happy when she said she loved it! It seemed like we really did the meeting for the book cover!! For we live half way around the world (she lives in US and I live in Indonesia).

And here is the final result of the cover:
We both satisfied with the result! Click here for the sneak peek from Amazon.

Dust Free Chalk

Well, I like chalk pastels as a painting media. I like the smooth result when I blend the colours on my paper. The problem is they are dusty. For an artist and a mother without a special room to do the art work like me, it is a big problem.
So I feel happy when I can use digital chalk from ArtRage.

A New Adventure on My Desk

There are chalk pastels, picture in chalk pastel & pencil, blending stump and compost materials (fallen flowers that were collected from the garden).

How about little flower fairy like this:

Really challenging for me: how to make the composition in balance (the 3D materials from Compost Materials and the 2D picture). A new adventure ^_^

Three Little Gnomes and a Boy Named Orion

I illustrated this lovely book for Rhonda Paglia.

Here is the book trailer.

The illustration process itself was so smooth. Rhonda and I feel like we've been friends for a long time! Rhonda's story itself is so sweet, filled with love, that spread to my heart.
When I was illustrating this story, I felt like I lived together with the gnomes in that beautiful garden. I felt like they were alive!
I drew each picture with all of my love, and hopefully this love will spread to the readers too ^^

You can purchase the book from Amazon  and Createspace.

Oh and don't forget, there will be a garden party for the book launch! Please see this invitation for details:

IF: Natural

This week's topic in Illustration Friday is Natural. I love it, it suits with Compost Art, that was made from compost material without any glue nor preservatives, all comes from nature.
So I submit this old art of mine:

Happy Easter from Nature!

Just wanna wish you Happy Easter Day, and share my old Compost Art composition ^_^
